This Physical Preparation Workshop aims to address the needs of Leaders and Coaches working with adults who run for fitness or participate in endurance events including middle and long distance, road running & cross country. Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach and Physical Preparation Lead for Athletics NI Laura Kerr will discuss running mechanics, movement screening and injury prevention. Laura will also be joined by Running Participation Officer Allister Woods and the pair will demonstrate and explain warm up progressions, running drills, foot and ankle conditioning as well as foam rolling and recovery techniques.

The practical nature of the workshop will allow leaders and coaches to familiarise themselves with new exercises and concepts before bringing these back to their own clubs. Coaches will be provided with a certificate of attendance as well as links to the Athletics NI ‘Run Strong’ syllabus.

PLEASE NOTE: The workshop is designed for those coaching athletes aged 16+ as in October 2016 Athletics NI will also be launching ‘Open Academy’ for Youth Athletes and their coaches.
