The 2015 Northern Ireland Coaching Conference, hosted by Athletics NI, took place on Saturday 19th of September at University of Ulster Jordanstown. Building on the success of previous conferences the event involved a mixture of presentations and practical workshops.
Sprints & Hurdles / Long Term Athlete Development
Tony Hadley is England Athletics National Coach Mentor and Event Group Lead for Sprints. He was previously Chair of the Event Management Group for Sprints and Hurdles. He has coached numerous world class sprinters including Derek Redmond, Duaine Ladejo and Phil Brown. His current crop of athletes includes 2014 European Silver medallist over 400m, Matthew Hudson-Smith.
Sprints / Hurdles / Endurance / Coaching Systems
Richard is the former Head of Coaching for England Athletics and British Athletics and previously the Head Coach for Cambridge University Track and Field Team. As a coach Richard has worked primarily with athletes in sprints, hurdles and endurance. As an official Richard was responsible for setting up the highly successful England Athletics National Coach Development Programme (NCDP) and worked jointly with British Athletics to create development opportunities for coaches working with athletes from grassroots to elite level. He was also Team Manager for England Athletics at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Since leaving British Athletics Richard has spent considerable time consulting and working across both the non-profit and commercial sectors as well as completing his MBA at the Judge Business School.

A former GB International Triple Jumper with a PB of 16.63m, Femi was part of the highly successful British Athletics Apprentice Coach programme working alongside Aston Moore (former coach to Olympic and World Championship Medallist Phillips Idowu) from 2010-2013. He assisted Aston in coaching Heptathlete Louise Hazel to Commonwealth Gold and qualification for the London 2012 Olympics. Femi was also technical advisor to Phillips Idowu before his retirement and has worked for both England Athletics and British Athletics as a Coach Mentor for Jumps.

Physical Preparation / Throws
Dave Rowland is the England Athletics National Coach Mentor for Physical Preparation and provides support to coaches across the National Coach Development Programme. Dave is a Strength and Conditioning consultant at University of Bristol and former head of S&C at Bristol Rugby. He has coached athletes throughout the entire pathway from grassroots to senior international level. He has qualifications in sports injury management as well as experience of working alongside medical and other practitioners in athlete support teams.
Physical Preparation / Endurance
Jared Deacon is a former British Athletics Development Coach and has worked as a Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach for the English Institute of Sport where he worked with elite athletes from 25 Olympic and Paralympic sports. He is currently the Scottish Rugby Academies Stage 3 Strength & Conditioning Coach, where he works with players on their physical development towards professional rugby and Scottish International Representation. As an athlete Jared represented GB at every major games and was part of the 4x400m relay team at the Sydney Olympics.
